Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Board Exams 2026 are just about 10 weeks away. The central board will be conducting the Class 10, 12 board examination 2026 from February 17. Schools will soon start internal assessment and practical examinations.
For most students, this is the time for self-study and last bit of preparation. But for many, it is not easy to decide how to start the same.
To help students, here is a simple two-month study plan leading up to the theory board exams in February. Suggested by teachers and tested by toppers, this two-month study plan is based on repeated revision, assessment and scientific methodology.
Constructed on the psychological concepts of learning, retention and recall, the revision plan provides a standard layout. Structured in blocks, students will be able cover the entire syllabus at least twice while preparing for the limited time stretch during exams.
2 Month Study Plan for CBSE Board Exams 2026
- Start with preparing a list of chapters for each subject and rank each chapter in order of difficulty – Rank 1 as easiest and so on. For example, there are a total of 4 chapters in Class 10 History, then rank them from 1 to 4 with 1 being easiest and 4 as toughest.
- Divide preparation plan into 5 main subject blocks – with each week dedicated to a certain subject. Revise the subjects in the manner of they appear in board exams. So, week one would be the first subject that appears, then week 2 and so on. Class 12 students can choose to ignore Language from Block 1 and revise it only with Block 2. Accordingly, the 6 extra days can then be added to the other 4 subjects.
- The syllabus should be divided into 6 days of self-study and one day for mock test or full sample paper of that subject. It is important to get that sample paper marked by a teacher and then to do the corrections.
- Also, while planning the day, students are advised to pick easy and difficult chapters in 2:1 ratio, starting from the median. Say, total 14 chapters – student can do chapters ranked 5, 6 and 7 or 1, 2 and 14. This technique helps the child feel confident as easy chapters will give a boost. They would also take relatively less time and hence child will be able to balance well.
- Once the block full syllabus of 5 subject revision is complete, take a two- or three-day break (as necessary) to revise Sixth Subject syllabus. In case the student does not have a sixth subject, he/she can choose to take 1 day break before starting Block 2.
- For Block 2 revision, again follow the subject sequence but this time dedicate a total of 5 days to each subject for full syllabus. Also, base the revision on the performance in the first sample paper/ mock test taken at the end of Block 1. And, like in First block, dedicate 4 days to full revision and one day to sample paper and correction work.
- After Block 2 – take a day’s rest to self-assess. At this point, the plan needs to be customized to suit your confidence level in the subjects. Choose any two subjects (or three if time permits) and revise the complete syllabus again – but this time in three days. No sample paper should be attempted at this stage. Also, it is advisable that Block 3 should be entirely NCERT focussed.
- Begin final revision as boards have now started – adjust revision time for the intervals available between the subject.
Benefits of the Two Month Plan
- Child revises the entire syllabus a minimum of two times for all subjects
- Successively shortening the time to revise helps the child speed up the revision and also enhanced recall.
- The same pattern of revision further enhances the retention as the brain gets accustomed to the sequence.
- The plan also adds two sample papers each of the subject – which would help students understand both where they are lack and their progress.
- Final block will help student concentrate on the topics they have identified as their week points.
