JEE Main 2026 January Exam Advisory Issued, Exam City Slip after Jan 15

National Testing Agency, NTA has issed an important advisory for candidates registered for the upcoming Joing Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2026 January Session. The advisory is in regards the mismatch of the photographs uploaded with the Aadhar database. All such students have been advised to upload a certificate verified by their school head along with the latest photograph.

This is in continuation to the email received by several candidates by NTA in the last week of December. The students were given time till January 7, 2026.

Subsequently NTA received requests and concerns from many such candidates, citing unavailability of the required official due to winter vacation and other reasons. Keeping this in mind, the agency has issued the advisory for all such candidates affected.

JEE Main Photograph mismatch advisory

The advisory issued has extended the last date for uploading the certificate on the website from January 7, 2026 to January 15, 2026. Candidates have also been given the freedom to get the verification and attestation from a Class 1 Gazetted Officer, in case the School/ College Principal or Head is not available or not accesible.

Class 1 Gazetted officer that can attest the photo-certificate could be a Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, DM/ Class I Gazetted Officer of Indian Embassy (for NRI candidates).

Candidates may also remember that the attested certificate needs to be carried to the examination centre on the date of the examination by all such candidates. This is mandatory for physical verification on the day of the examination.

JEE Main 2026 January Exam City Slip

NTA will release the exam city slip for the January session of JEE Main 2026 examination. As per the notification, the exam city slip is expected to be released 10 days prior to the commencement of the examination. This is done to help candidates make any travel arrangements, if required.

This year, however, due to the extended window of uploading the necesary document, it is likely that the exam city slip may be released after Janaury 16, 2026. The date expected for exam city slip is hence between January 11, 2026 to January 17, 2026.

Admit cards for the examination will be released four days before the date of the examination. Information regarding the date of examination along with the city of the exam will be mentioned in the city slip.

All students are advised to keep a check on the official website for any latest update and information regarding the examination.

JEE Main January 2026 session is scheduled between January 21, 2026 and January 30, 2026. The exam will be conducted across multiple sessions. Detailed schedule is awaited and likely to be released on jeemain.nta.nic.in soon.
