Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Results 2025 have been declared. The board has released the results online on various platforms including DigiLocker and official website cbse.gov.in. It is important to note that the board does not give the aggregate marks scored by the student.
In the circumstances, many are confused on how to calculate the percentage. Here is a quick explanation and example of how to calculate the percentage and aggregate scored by the student. In case you have not checked yet direct link to check Class 10th 12th results is also provided below.

CBSE Result: Calculating Percentage
Please note, an aggregate for CBSE Class 10 consists of marks obtained by the student in any of the 5 subjects. If the child has appeared in only 5 subjects, to calculate percentage simply add all the marks and divide it by Grand Total which is 500. Resultant then needs to be multiplied by 100. Or simply, divide the sum with 5.
For example, student has scored marks as per the following

Now, to calculate aggregate, simply add total marks in each subject – which comes out to 433 in the given example. For aggregate percentage, simply divide it by 5. The result (86.6%) is the percentage scored by your child.
In case there are 6 subjects, say as given below

Choose the top 5 marks scored by your child and add them. Divide this sum by 5 and that becomes the aggregate of your child. In this case, the sum total becomes 448 and the percentage becomes 89.6%.
Same method can be used for computing Class 12 marks. In Class 12, other averages are also asked. For instance, students also calculate
PCM, PCB, Best of 4 averages. For the first two, sum of marks obtained in respective subjects divided by 3 will give percentage score for the said average. For Best of 4, English or One Main Language marks are mandatory. Students can choose any of the subjects and pick the best marks to compute the average. For best of four, divide the sum total by 4.
