Joint Engineering Examination, JEE Advanced 2025 exam has concluded for this year. The entrance examination for admission to various Indian Institutes of Technology, IITs was conducted by IIT Kanpur today across India. The exam in computer-based test or CBT mode was conducted in two shifts – morning 9 to 12 and evening 2:30 to 5:30. The same have now ended and first reactions from students are here.
In the first feedback received from students who have appeared for the examination, the difficulty level of question paper was on expected lines. Of the three sections, Mathematics was said to be the toughest one. A few students also pointed out that Chemistry in Paper 2 was particularly confusing.

JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Analysis
Experts have called the Physics and Mathematics paper tough. As reported by students, experts have shared that Paper 1 was relatively easy but Paper 2 was difficult. Allen, Kota’s leading institute expers have shared that Physics-Maths tough, Chemistry was calculative.
This time exam had 14 integer type questions which do not have any negative marking. JEE-Advanced exam was conducted in two shifts on Sunday. The first shift exam was held from 9 am to 12 noon. Allen Career Institute Director Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari said that the paper of this exam was easy. The second shift exam was held from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
This paper was lengthy. Chemistry was completely calculative in the paper. The difficulty level of Physics and Maths was slightly better. The most important change in this year’s change compared to last year was the number of questions. This year both papers had 48 questions each. In this, there were 16 questions each from all three subjects. The total paper was of 180-180 marks only, i.e. maximum marks will remain 360 only. Last year, 17 questions each were asked in both papers.
Students who had shared the feedback after Paper 1 called it expected. Mathematics and Physics were said to be tough, but expectedly so. Chemistry was said to be the easier of the three papers.
For Paper 2, a few students raised concerns about Chemistry section. A student reported that the numerical were lengthy and was not happy with the attempt. Overall, Mathematics was the section that was reported to be the toughest.
Experts are now likely to gather the information and share details in regards the larger expected result. A basic cut off of how many marks may result in what rank would also be shared.
JEE Advanced Previous Years Cut off
The previous year’s category wise cut off is provided below. Please note, these are the minimum marks/ percentage scored by candidates who were declared ‘qualified’ in JEE Advanced and eligible for JoSAA counselling. The top ranks, however, remained with students who scored 95 to 100 per cent marks in JEE Advanced.

Whether the JEE Advanced cut off will increase or decrease this year is not known. There were news that reportedly less number of students have appeared for the examination than previous year.
If that is the case, the expected cut off may further rise. Experts will share expected cut off only after gathering feedback from larger number of students.
