Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Advanced 2026 date has been announced. Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Roorkee will be conducting the IIT entrance examination for 2026. The exam will be conducted on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The official notice is now available on jeeadv.ac.in.
The website for 2026 edition of JEE Advanced is now live on jeeadv.ac.in. Other information like complete schedule, syllabus, etc. will be released in due course of time. Registration for JEE Advanced will begin only after JEE Main 2026 result is declared. The tentative date for JEE Main final result is April 20, 2026.

JEE Advanced 2026 – Important Updates
JEE Advanced is conducted by IITs for admission to the 4 year degree program in engineering and other courses. Candidates who aspire to join IITs need to qualify and rank in the JEE Advanced examination.
The preliminary requirement or eligibility is governed by candidate’s performance in JEE Main examination – which is conducted by National Testing Agency, NTA. NTA conducts JEE Main and releases the result. Based on a cut off calculated, about 2 – 2.20 lakh candidates qualify for the IIT JEE Examination.
JEE Advanced Eligibility, Other Criteria
IIT Roorkee has not released the information bulletin as yet. There is no update in any possible changes in the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced as yet. Last year it was briefly considered to expand the number of attempts for students aspiring for IITs. However, the decision was rescinded and retracted.
A few students, who had applied before the same were allowed to appear for the examination. This year, however, there is no news on any possibility of increasing the number of attempts.
In accordance to past eligibility criteria followed, candidates who meet the following three criteria are considered eligible.
- Cleared JEE Main 2026 and qualified for JEE Advanced
- Appeared for Class 12 board exams in 2025 or will be appearing in 2026
- Have scored or will score a minimum of 75% marks
In these provisions there are also sub-clauses regarding students who appeared for JEE Advanced 2025, qualified but then did not take up a seat. All these points will be clarified once the information bulletin is released.
