JEE Advanced 2025: Expected cut off
This year, the total number of students appearing for JEE Mains has seen an uptick. Since the cut off is based on percentile points and the number of students who can appear for JEE Advanced (2.5 lakh approximately) remains the same, the percentile point may shift.
Experts, however, believe that given the difficulty level of the examination and the total marks of the examination (300), the percentile shift may not be too significant. Largely, the JEE Advanced 2025 cut off is likely to remain in the vicinity of previous year’s cut off, +/- 1.5 percentile point.

*Expected
Based on your results, student can decide whether or not to appear for the next session of JEE Main. If you are well within last year’s cut off, you can decide to skip appearing for the April examination. Experts usually suggest keeping a buffer of about 3 to 5 percentile points from previous year’s cut off before deciding.
Students must remember that only the best of the two scores (in case student appears for both) would be considered for determining the final rank and eligibility. Hence, it is advisable to appear for the second session to improve your score, even if you are very close to previous year’s cut off.
