NEET 2025 Exam Analysis: Physics Toughest, Overall Paper Too Lengthy

In a subject wise analysis, Allen experts have shared that Physics section was lengthy and toughest. The section had a total of 45 questions. Out of these, 22 were from Class 11 and 23 from Class 12 Syllabus. In a topic wise breakdown, experts shared that 15 questions were from Mechanics, 4 from Thermal Physics, 3 from HHM waves, 13 from electrodynamics, 4 from optics and 6 from modern physics. The length of the questions was said to be time consuming and verbiage confusing.

Chemistry was also said to be lengthier than previous year’s papers. In a topic wise break down – 16 questions were asked from Physical Chemistry, 12 from inorganic chemistry and 17 from organic chemistry. The division between Class 11 and 12 syllabus was also balanced.

Biology, the lengthiest segment with a total of 90 questions was also inordinately lengthy. Experts have also pointed out that there is confusion in about 4 to 5 questions in the section. As for the other two, there is a possibility of error in one question each.

Impact on cut off

While no expected cut off has been shared as yet, based on the overall response from students at large, it can be expected that there would be high disparity in marks. As many as 100 students were seen to score above 710 marks out of 720 in NEET 2024, this year the responses suggest that may not be possible.

A higher level of difficulty is suggestive that perhaps the cut off may dip below. In 2024, the cut off for general category was 162 marks out of 720. An expected cut off will be deliberated on once more feedback is received for this year. Tentatively, however, it may drop to around 120 marks out of 720.
