NEET PG Petition in Supreme Court

NBEMS’ decision is strongly opposed by the United Doctors’ Front (UDF). UDF has called the decision arbitrary and reduces the ‘fairness’ of the examination. In response, NBE released a notice explaining that the result will be calculated based on normalization of scores of the two shifts.

Aspirants have objected to two shifts. They have even quoted a coaching institute that highlighted disparity in the two shifts of NEET PG 2024 examination and are demanding NBE to conduct NEET PG in single shift.

UDF, which represents thousands of medical aspirants has now in turn filed a petition in SC, challenging the decision to conduct exams in two shifts. The petitioners have argued that the process of two separate papers and normalization of scores lacks transparency. Quoting right to fair evaluation under Articles 14 and 21 of Constitution, petitioners argue multi-shift exams violate the same.

Supreme Court has now issued notices to the concerned authorities, seeking reply on the petition and to understand their stand. Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan presided over the case.
