Tamil Nadu, TN School Holiday today news: Schools in the district of Puducherry have been ordered shut for today. A school holiday was announced for December 1 in the district of Puducherry due to heavy rains and inclement weather through the day. The impact of Cyclone Ditwah is expected to remain through the day with wind speeds reaching 44kmph. No school holiday has been announced for Chennai as yet.
Chennai Schools Closed? Weather Update
IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Chennai and surrounding districts as Cyclone Ditwah moves northwards. Southern parts of Andhra Pradesh are also expected to receive heavy rainfall. Many coastal areas are on red alert due to the cyclone.
Meanwhile, IMD predicts Chennai, Kancheepuram and Cuddalore to receive heavy rainfall through the day. Orange alert has been issued but school holiday has not been announced.
In the last update from the Meteoroligical deparment, rain is expected from 10:00 am in isolated places of Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, Chengalpeth, Chennai, Ranipettai, Vellore, Kaanchipuram and Viluppuram. Water logging is also expected.
The area remains under yellow alert as of now. Traffic may be impacted due to water logging. Parents are hence advised to take necessary precaution while sending children to school.
