CBSE Board Exams 2025: Can Schools Refuse to Issue Admit Card to Students? What CBSE Says

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Board Exams 2025 will begin from February 15. The central board will now soon release the Admit Cards for the Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2025. The admit cards or roll numbers will be issued to the schools and distributed by them to the registered candidates. Entry to the board exam centre is strictly on the basis of the admit card.

Many schools often reach out to parents and threaten to withhold the admit cards. There are multiple reasons that the schools share to refuse the issue of admit cards to the students. But are the schools allowed to do the same? Here is what examination bylaws say about issuing the CBSE Board Exams admit cards to the students.

CBSE Board Exams 2025: What Board Says About Issuing Admit Cards to Students

Before we explain the various instances, let us be very clear about one cardinal rule – Schools CANNOT Refuse to issue the admit cards to the students registered for CBSE Board Exams 2025. There has to be an extreme reason for the same.

As per the examination bylaws, if a student has registered from a school for CBSE board exams and the board has issued an admit card, the school is duty bound to share the same with the student.

This includes cases of incomplete attendance, student failing the pre-board examination and even suspension due to disciplinary actions. However, in case a student is rusticated from the school, the school can refuse to issue the admit card.

In the latter case, the school needs to inform the board of the action and seek guidance on the issuance of the admit card.

CBSE Admit Card Not Issued Due to Fee Default

Most common reason schools cite for withholding the issue of Admit Cards is the non-payment of fees due to the school. In such cases, CBSE though does not interfere with the school’s right to collect the fee, it does ask the school to issue the admit card irrespective.

The board is mindful of the emotional impact of such an action can have on the child. In the interest of the well-being of the child, CBSE has hence laid out a simple guideline, mandating that no student can be penalised for the non-payment of the fee.

CBSE Board Exams 2025 Class 10, 12 Admit Card Release Date

As per the information available, CBSE is expected to release the admit cards latest by January 30 on Pareeksha Sangam. Once the same are released, students can collect them from their respective schools. Schools are required to print the same, stamp and sign the admit cards before issuing it to the students.

Parents and students are advised to check with the respective schools for the same. Also, it is important to remember that while CBSE has asked APPAR ID to be created for all students, they are not mandatory for this year’s board examination. Parents may, however, coordinate with the schools to get their child’s APAAR ID created at the earliest.
