UPDATE: Calculators Not Allowed in JEE Main 2026
National Testing Agency, NTA will be conducting the first session of JEE Main 2026 examinations from January 21, 2026 to January 30, 2026. Further bolstering the safety of the registration process, NTA has introduced a few changes in the application process. The list of changes along with important pointers are given below for quick reference.
Important Changes in JEE Main Online Application Forms
Introduction of Live Photograph
As an added layer of security, NTA has introduced Live Photograph feature in the online application form. Students are still required to upload their pictures. The system has added a step of live photo capture.
This live photograph, in turn, will be matched to the Aadhaar card photo. The application will be complete only when the two photographs – live photo as well as Aadhar photo are verified to be identical. In view of the same, NTA had also earlier released the notice and asked parents to ensure that the aadhaar cards of the candidates were updated.
Aadhaar Verification
This year, there will be Aadhaar verification for both the phases of the registration. The system will prompt verification for the Aadhaar ID and in case of discrepancies, the application will not be processed.
Other Important points
Applicants to ensure that their documents are updated before they start the registration process. This includes their Class 10 marksheet/ certificate, identification as well as category documentation.
Also, there is no address verification with the Aadhaar card. After announcement of mandatory Aadhaar card, students raised concern over choosing exam city.
NTA has not asked for any address proof this year and has allowed the students to choose the examination city of their choice. Students can choose and fill as many as four exam city choices. These must match the permanent or local addresses entered.
Also remember that while filling the state code of eligibility, students must ensure that these correspond to the state from which student is appearing for Class 12 or passed his Class 12 examination. Also, once the registration and online application form is complete and payment is made, the system will generate a confirmation page. All are advised to keep four copies of this confirmation page for future reference.
