NVS, KVS Recruitment 2025: Exam Dates Announced, Selection Criteria Explained

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has released the dates for the Tier 1 Examination for on-going NVS, KVS Recruitment 2025. As per the notice, Tier 1 examination will be conducted on January 10 and January 11, 2026. Registrations for the recruitment process close on December 4, 2025.

A total of 14967 teaching and non-teaching positions will be filled by means of this recruitment. CBSE will be conducting the examination and process. Positions are for both Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS) as well as Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). Some of the posts will include two level of written examination followed by an interview, while some will have a skill test.

Broadly, there are three stages in the selection process.

  • Tier 1 Examination
  • Tier 2 Examination
  • Interview Round/ Skill Round

Paper Pattern for Tier I Examination

For all posts barring Multi-tasking Staff, the Tier I examination will have 6 sections. Namely,

  1. General Reasoning
  2. Numeric Ability
  3. Basic Computer Literacy
  4. General Knowledge
  5. Language Competency Test – English
  6. Language Competency Test – One other modern Indian language

All sections will have 20 questions each (language section will have 10 questions each). Each question will carry three marks and there is a negative marking of (-1) for all wrong answers. The test will be offline, objective type and OMR based.

Expected knowledge level for Assistant Commissioner, Principal and Vice Principal will be post-graduation level. For TGT, Administrative Officer, Finance Officer, Assistant Engineer (Civil), Assistant Section Officer, Junior Translator, Stenographer Grade-II, Stenographer Grade–I and Senior Secretariat Assistant level is graduation level. As for PRT, Junior Secretariat Assistant and Lab Attendant- the knowledge level is Senior Secondary Level.

For Multi-tasking staff, the Tier 1 objective exam will have

  1. General Awareness & Current Affairs (20 Questions)
  2. Basic Knowledge of Computer Operations (40 Questions)
  3. Language Competency Test (English) (20 Questions)
  4. Language Competency Test (One other Modern Indian Languages) (20 Questions)
  5. Each question carries 3 marks, and wrong answers will have a negative marking of -1.  Level of examination will be secondary level.

Tier II Exam will be a subject knowledge examination which would have an objective based OMR section as well written pen and paper test. The Tier II Exam will be a two and a half hour.

Objective part will have 60 questions of 1 mark each and the descriptive part would have 10 questions of 4 marks each. The paper will also carry negative marking of ¼ or 0.25 marks for the objective part.
