Rhea Chakraborty’s Bail Challenged by NCB

Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty’s Bail is Challenged by The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The bail was granted to the actor in the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case. NCB has petitioned in the apex court challenging the bail.

Bombay High Court had granted bail to actress Rhea Chakraborty in October last year. This move by the NCB comes days after the NCB named 33 people, including Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, in a charge sheet filed before a special court in Mumbai.

Chronology Leading to Rhea Chakraborty’s Bail Challenged

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) started the investigation of the use of drugs in movie industry due to the death of prominent bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on 14th June last year. After months of investigation by multiple agencies Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in September by the NCB on charges of organising drugs for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea Chakraborty had claimed that all allegations levelled against her are wrong. She also claimed that she and her brother Showik were targets of a witch-hunt. Rhea Chakraborty was granted bail by the Bombay High Court. The court said in its judgement that Rhea Chakraborty is not part of a chain of drug dealers. The actress was asked not to leave the country without the court’s permission and to submit a ₹ 1 lakh bond. Also read: Deepika Padukone likely to be questioned by NCB(Opens in a new browser tab)
