Tricolor signifies freedom – the struggles of our freedom sighters as India fought hard and long to gain its Independence. For health – tricolor signifies freedom too – the tricolor of immunity. As India celebrates its 75th Independence Day, we look with the tricolor with a renewed sense of pride and purpose. While we do that, let us also look at the three colors of good health.
Experts have often suggested that we must ensure to add 5 colored foods in our daily diet. On the occasion of Independence Day, here is a look at the Orange, White and Green essentials we must add to our diet to improve our immunity
Tricolor for Immunity: Orange

The color is the fruit and the fruit is the color. One cant say it enough times that the humble fruit is your richest source of good health. Filled with Vitamin C, the fruit is an essential when it comes to bosting immunity. A few months and oranges would flood the market. But while you wait, try its humble cousin – the Mausambi. Not only is mausambi rich in Vitamin C, it is also a powerhouse of potassium and a god-send for good health. Add two helpings of mausambi, orange or any critrus fruit in your daily diet to keep your body independent of diseases.
Tricolor for Immunity: White

We often discard white foods. Be it dairy or rice, people often give up white foods first, forgetting that they are a rich source of many essential nutrients. Bu when we are thinking about good health, especially a good immune system, there is one white which we must never forget- garlic. The herbaceous stem has accepted medicinal properties. For ages, people have used garlic for fighting common colds and stuffy nose.
As a source of allicin, diallyl disulfide and sallyl cysteine, garlic offers a variety of sources for sulphur which is responsible for its health benefits. But the biggest effectiveness comes from its documented role in lowering cholesterol levels and even reducing blood pressure. So when you think of the three colors, remember to add this white in your diet.
Tricolor for Immunity: Green

When we think of immunity and green, Amla or the humble Indian Gooseberry cannot be ignored. An excellent source of Vitamin C and anti-oxidants, amla not only bolsters your body’s immune system but also promotes good heart health, increase hair growth and promotes kidney health.
